The first time I worked at LLP was doing bgv's on Quo's project. I remember that I'd never felt so comfortable about hearing my voice in the headphones. The sessions were like clockwork magic. So when I set out to work on what would become Liberation Project, I knew that I wanted to return to LLP. It felt like home. From those first "virgin" experiences on the mic...even just hangin' out listening to tracks or other takes, I could feel that the place was special.
What become apparent while working with Braden himself is that he could do anything I asked. As long I was able to formulate the words in my mouth to convey what I was after, he would meet me there (and sometimes he had very little to go on).
Another important factor was Braden's "I'll fix it, or I'll find a way" mentality. He knows so many old techniques and tricks from his many years of technical experience doing a myriad of media related tasks. It was a rare occasion that left Braden stumped. We needed those rescue capabilities.
I think B will agree that my sessions were particularly adventurous. I recall the nites we spent trying to find a unique percussive sound for "Storyland". We tried everything from trash cans to guitar cases.
I must mention that some of the best times throughout the recording, mixing process were late nites spent talking and hanging out...something Braden cherished and made a priority. We still call and talk about life even in the midst of working out business details. Many a nite Braden has prayed for me, and I know his prayers have made a difference in my life.
I consider myself a semi-vet of LLP, and I plan to be involved with Braden and this studio for a long time." -Kenyon (Liberation Project)
